What is ANSI?

ANSI is The American National Standards Institute and sets guidelines to ensure products and services in the U.S. are safe, reliable, and of high quality. ANSI doesn’t make the standards themselves but coordinates the efforts of different groups and companies to develop them. Kit Classifications:

Class A Kits

Intended to provide basic range of products to aid most common workplace injuries such as minor cuts, abrasions, and sprains.

Class B Kits

Intended to provide broader range and quantity of supplies to aid injuries in more complex or high-risk workplace environments.

ANSI / ISEA Z308.1-2015

American National Standard Minimum Requirements for Workplace First Aid Kits and Supplies Z308.01-2015 establishes minimum performance requirements for first aid kits and their supplies that are intended for use in various work environments. Classification of first aid kits, designating the assortment of items and quantity of each item, is based on the anticipated number of users intended to be served by each first aid kit, as well as the complexity of the work environment and level of hazards.

OSHA CFR 1910.1251(b)

OSHA 29 Code of Federal Regulations 1910.151(b) requires that adequate first aid supplies shall be readily available. This rule applies to the treatment of minor injuries that occur in the workplace. OSHA refers employers to ANSI Z308.1-2015 for guidance on minimum requirements for first aid kits.
