Safetec is a 2021 Manufacturing Awards winner!
We are thrilled and honored to share the news that Safetec of America, Inc. is the winner of the Community Involvement category for the 2021 Manufacturing Awards!
Throughout 2020, Safetec of America, Inc. continued expanding and growing within the community while creating many new job opportunities in the Western New York area. With the rise of COVID-19 cases came the surge in demand for highly sought-after surface disinfectant sprays and wipes, hand sanitizers, hand wipes, and antimicrobial hand soap. In response to supply and demand issues, Safetec further expanded manufacturing capabilities by purchasing a third Buffalo facility, Safetec East, currently operating as the new warehouse and distribution facility for all finished goods inventory. This 66,712 sqft expansion allowed Safetec to increase our footprint in the WNY Community and add 84 employees to the growing Safetec family.
When tasked with purchasing a third facility, we wanted to stay loyal to the city of Buffalo and find a central location that was easy to access for our multicultural team of employees. One of our proudest accomplishments is the diverse team we have today and continue to grow. We have employees from nearly every corner of the globe, including Myanmar (formerly Burma), Antigua, Bangladesh, Columbia, India, Kenya, Nigeria, Puerto Rico, South Africa, West Africa, and Thailand.
In November of 2020, Safetec participated in its 9th annual FeedMore WNY (formerly the Food Bank of WNY) Full Plates, Thankful Hearts turkey drive. Due to the ongoing pandemic and increased hardship our community has faced, our Safetec family came together, stronger than ever, to support families and those significantly in need during the holiday season. With our employees’ incredible generosity, Safetec’s and Kulback’s donation match, and a donation from a close friend at Lawley Insurance, we were able to donate $10,000 and 62 turkeys.
During the pandemic, Safetec wanted to help show support to other local businesses impacted by the state-wide shutdowns while also showing appreciation for the hard work, dedication, and resilience Safetec employees displayed as essential workers. Family dinners were purchased and provided to employees to share with their loved ones from Osteria 166 on multiple occasions. Also, Safetec brought local food trucks onsite, Pizza Amore and Mineo & Sapio Street Eats, for an employee pop-up appreciation day.
