Do You Expect To Feel Safe At Work?

You Are Not Alone

In fact, according to a survey four out of five employees in the United States expects to be safe while at work. This survey was conducted by Sterling Talent Solutions, an employment background screening and onboarding firm.

In this survey, they polled 1,077 nationally representative Americans ages 18 and over using an e-mail invitation and an online survey managed by Kelton Research. The survey polled opionions on safety, immigration, right to work, gun control, privacy, homeland security, legalization of marijuana and education.

When it came to the issue of safety, 78% said that they expect to feel safe at work. To put things into perspective with other situations – here are a few other results from where people expect to be safe:

  • At the Doctor: 83%
  • Dining at a Restaraunt: 70%
  • On an Airplane: 65%
  • In a Taxi/Uber: 56%
  • Those that never expect to feel safe: 5%

Also reflected in the survey is the fact that political allegiances do not have a significant effect on people’s beliefs about safety. Almost the same percentage of Democrats (47 percent), Republicans (48 percent) and Independents (48 percent) reported that public safety is one of the most important issues facing the nation.

“When you start a project of this scale, you’re never quite sure what to expect. Every person has a different experience shaping their world and, more importantly, how they feel about the world. But, when you begin to aggregate all of the data, patterns slowly begin to emerge.

And it is through these patterns that we begin to tap into something more than just emotions; we tap into truth. And truth is that safety permeates throughout the minds of all Americans at varying levels.

Regardless of your political beliefs or your stances on the issues, the desire for safety is a common thread that connects us all as we navigate through our daily lives and the lives of those we love. Despite every opinion in the debates, the heart of the matter remains that the real issue on everyone’s mind is the safety and well-being for themselves and their loved ones.

And that’s a story worth telling.”
