Could You Be Doing More To Prevent Infections?
In North Carolina a video was recently created and released that addresses physicians and health care providers in an effort to stop communicable disease and other infections. This rule is named NC Rule .0206 Infection Control in Healthcare Settings.
Healthcare facilities conducting invasive procedures (even a needle stick) must comply with the rule which requires a designated staff person to oversee the facility’s infection control program and take a state approved infection control training. Even if you are not in North Carolina, think about your facilities infection control program and if your program managers have gone through your own states approprited training programs.
In the video below you will find Dr. Allen Mask, Raleigh internist and WRAL medical reporter, as he interviews State Epidemiologist, Dr. Zack Moore, and UNC-CH Professor, Dr. David J. Weber about NC Rule .0206 compliance.
They will discuss the two basic requirements of Rule .0206 as well as how to prevent infections. They also touch upon the importance of good hand hygiene and compliance within your hand hygiene program to prevent the spread of infection.
