No One Is Safe From The Flu

One might think because they got the flu once already this season that they are in the clear. But that isn’t quite the case for this year. There are two types of flu circulating, flu A and flu B. Within both type A and B, there are two subtypes for each influenza. Essentially, there are four different types of the flu this season that someone can get.

For the rest of the season, your immune system can protect you from getting that strain again, but it is unable to protect you from getting flu A subtype H1N1 or the two subtypes of flu B. According to Dr. James Wilde at Augusta University Medical Center, there are four different strains of flu people can catch this season.

Although this year’s flu shot is a bad match for the circulating strain, professionals say getting the flu shot will decrease its severity and help reduce fatalities. Other ways to help yourself during this flu season is by washing your hands with soap and water often, using hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available, and disinfect surfaces and objects. Safetec manufactures products to help protect you from the severity of the flu this season.
