How The Flu Opens The Door To Killer Bacteria
Although it is rare that people die from getting the flu, it does happen, as Carey Goldberg talks about in her recent article she posted on wbur.org. People do not die from just the flu alone, but from what it brings on and how it affects our body. When people get sick, influenza weakens the immune system, which opens the door for other viruses to hit.
Goldberg says some examples of this would be, bacterial super infections or pneumonia that is caused by staphylococcus, pneumococcus, or other organisms that are brought on by influenza virus infections. Due to the virus, the body’s immune response to these organisms is suppressed, allowing them to work against the body.
Another area that is attacked and affected by the flu is with the respiratory cells or the epithelial cells that are in the respiratory tract. Viruses attack the cells that make up the barriers to protect these organisms. Once this barrier is down, it allows the viruses to get under the epithelium and spread to places it normally shouldn’t be, continuing into the lungs.
When influenza virus is not taken care of or prevented, it causes many problems for our immune system and can even result in death because of it. This is why it is very important for people to stay ahead of the game this flu season.
Safetec carries two options of disinfectants that will help kill those germs before they can affect people. Be sure to take a good look at our SaniZide Plus and Pro after reading this article. By putting Safetec’s products to use, everyone can be a part of stopping the influenza virus from causing damage to people and to prevent casualties.
