Safetec regroups as explosive pandemic demand slows

Demand for products has slowed significantly in the last few months for Safetec of America Inc., a Buffalo manufacturer of infection-control products such as disinfectant spray and hand sanitizer.

For 15 months during the pandemic, the company saw explosive growth, added employees and purchased a third facility, but since April, there’s been “an abundance” of those products in the supply chain, according to Safetec CEO Scott Weinstein.

“We aren’t feeling the everyday pressure that we were feeling last year,” he said. “We couldn’t find raw materials to make our products, but now fast-forward 15 months later, and the disinfectant manufacturers have all ramped up and there’s too much product.”

The pressure he has now as CEO is to retain his 150-plus employees and to bring the company back to where it was before Covid-19.
